The Great Cakes Soap Challenge this month involved learning the Dancing Funnel Technique.  This technique was invented by Tatsiana Serko of Creative Soap by Steso and Jelena Vasiljeva of Soap Techniques.  Tatsiana was also our guest teacher this month and did another amazing job explaining and demonstrating this technique for us.  We were able to enter our soaps in one of two categories: all natural or synthetic.  I chose the all natural category.  I’m sure you are all astonishment. ;) Continue reading →

Rainbow Soap – Sculpted Layers Technique

I finally finished the video for my Rainbow Soap that I made using the sculpted layers technique. The method of sculpting layers was created by Claudia Carpenter of Om Nom Soaps and was the challenge in Amy Warden’s June 2016 Great Cakes Soap Challenge where Claudia was the guest teacher. Charcoal & Clay Rimmed Soap

032016_18282wp.jpgThis month, the Great Cakes Soap Challenge (hosted by Amy Warden of Great Cakes Soapworks) involved creating a rimmed soap. Our instructor was Tatsiana Serko of Creative Soaps by Steso. Not only does Tatsiana create amazing rimmed soaps, but all of her soaps are so artistic and beautiful. She provided us with a wonderful tutorial. All of the tips and help provided by both she and Amy Warden made this daunting technique seem a bit easier to tackle. I chose to make a charcoal and kaolin clay rim, then fill it with white soap using more kaolin clay.  :) Continue reading →
